CompTIA Network+ is a vendor-neutral certification for people who build, run, secure and troubleshoot computer networks. "Vendor-neutral" means the exam does not test one manufacturer's products. It tests the ideas that every network uses: addressing, switching, routing, wireless, network services, monitoring, security and fault finding.
The current exam version is N10-009. Every lesson in this course is built from the published objectives for that version. Exam versions change every few years, so before you book, check on CompTIA's own website which version applies on your exam date.
Typical learners are help desk and desktop support staff moving into network roles, junior network administrators, field technicians, and system administrators who need a solid networking base. Many learners take this exam after the CompTIA A+ exams. CompTIA lists recommended experience on its website; check the current recommendation there rather than relying on any third-party summary.
What this course does and does not do
Teach every objective of the N10-009 exam at the depth the exam expects. Give you original practice questions in the style of the exam, including scenario questions. Show worked subnetting examples, recomputed by script. Give you a study plan and exam technique.
Where this course sits in the catalogue
The Networking Fundamentals course introduces networking from first principles for the workplace. This course assumes you have met those ideas, recaps them quickly, and then takes each one to the depth and precision the exam objectives demand. Two parallel exam-preparation courses cover neighbouring exams: the CompTIA A+ Core 1 Exam Preparation course (hardware, small office networks, mobile devices) and the CompTIA Security+ Exam Preparation course (security in much more depth than Network+ requires).
The examples use invented companies. Quorvale Logistics, for example, runs warehouses in Texas and a head office network that you will troubleshoot many times.
