- Distinguish fixed-roof, external floating-roof, internal floating-roof and pressurised storage, and explain which products suit each.
- Describe the independent layers that prevent tank overfill and why gauge, alarm and trip must not share a single instrument.
- Apply level gauging, tank reconciliation and water draw-off practice to detect errors and losses early.
- Explain the role of bunds, secondary containment and drain valve discipline in limiting a loss of containment.
- Recognise tank venting, breathing and blanketing hazards, including the risks of landing a floating roof.
- Carry out safe gauging, sampling and operator external inspection checks, controlling static, toxic vapour and fall hazards.
