What you'll learn

• Distinguish the main permit types — hot work, cold work, confined space entry, electrical, excavation — and their supporting certificates
• Describe the responsibilities of the permit applicant/holder, the issuing authority and the area authority, and why these roles are separated
• Apply the permit lifecycle from request and risk assessment through issue, toolbox talk, execution, suspension, handover and close-out
• Recognise SIMOPS and permit-to-permit conflicts and the gas-testing requirements that permits depend on
• Identify common PTW failure modes, such as working outside the permit scope or validity window, and act to stop them
