How skills work
Every skill has four levels, from Awareness to Mastery. You earn the first levels by finishing courses, and the higher levels by an assessor's sign-off at work.
The four levels
| Level | What it means |
|---|---|
| Awareness | You know the skill exists and why it matters. |
| Knowledge | You understand the concepts and principles behind it. |
| Skill | You can apply it correctly in real situations. |
| Mastery | You perform it expertly and can teach or improve it. |
Skills are earned through courses
A skill is the outcome of courses. Each skill page has a section How to earn this skill that lists, for each level, the ways to prove it: an online course, a classroom course, a program, or an assessor's sign-off. Any one way proves the level, and every step in a way is needed.
Skills do not have lessons of their own any more. You learn in our online courses, live online courses and classroom courses.
Skill and Mastery
The Skill and Mastery levels are proved at work, not by a course. An assessor at your organisation signs you off on corp.icompetent.com. See Assessors and sign-off.
Find a skill
Open the skills catalogue and search by name, or browse the list. Each skill page shows its four levels, What you'll learn and How to earn this skill. You can read all of this without an account.
