Earn a skill and see it on your profile

Finish a course that builds a skill, and the skill appears on your profile at the level the course proves. This page covers where your levels come from and how self-study differs from an assessor's sign-off.

Take a course

  1. Schritt 1: Open a skill from the skills catalogue.
  2. Schritt 2: Under How to earn this skill, choose a course or a program for the level you want.
  3. Schritt 3: Finish it. For an online course, that means every lesson complete and every module quiz passed. A live online course counts when the trainer marks you as attended.

A course page also says which skills it builds, under Skills you will build.

Your skills on your profile

Your skills appear under Skills from your courses on the skills tab of your profile. Each skill shows the highest level you have proof for, and the date you proved it. Your levels are worked out again each time you open the page, so there is nothing to fill in.

If a skill has a validity period, the level shows Renew by with a date. To renew it, prove the level again, for example by taking the course again.

Work you did in the old skill lessons

Skills used to have lessons, tasks and assessments of their own. These were removed in October 2026. Nothing you did in them was deleted: items you completed still count toward your levels, and your competency records stay on your profile.

Self-study and assessor sign-off

A level you prove through courses or your own work is not an employer's sign-off. A level signed off by an organisation's assessor is marked Assessor sign-off. See Assessors and sign-off.
