Explain what counts as hot work, including both naked-flame and spark-potential activities
Describe how the fire triangle drives every hot work control, from gas testing to combustible clearance
Apply hot work permit requirements, including 0% LEL to start in hydrocarbon areas and continuous monitoring
Set up a field hot work site: clear or protect combustibles, seal drains, isolate hydrocarbon sources and handle gas cylinders correctly
Perform the fire watch role during hot work and through the post-work watch period
Evaluate whether hot work is justified at all, or should be replaced by cold work or moved to a designated safe area
