• Explain why PPE is the last line of defence in the hierarchy of controls.
• Identify the standard upstream PPE set and the task-specific additions a job may require.
• Select PPE against the hazard using recognised ratings (cut levels, SNR, assigned protection factors).
• Inspect PPE before use and recognise when an item must be condemned and replaced.
• Apply correct fit, care and storage practices, including respirator fit testing and the clean-shaven rule.
• Interpret and maintain a PPE matrix and the mandatory-PPE signage at a site entry.
