Well Integrity Awareness
An awareness-level grounding in well integrity: what containment means over a well's whole life cycle, the two-barrier philosophy and barrier envelopes, the elements that make them up, annulus pressure monitoring, integrity testing, degradation modes and anomaly management. For operations, maintenance, wells and support staff who work on or around live wells.

What you'll learn
- Explain what well integrity means and why containment must be maintained from drilling through production to abandonment
- Describe the two-barrier philosophy and identify the primary and secondary well barrier envelopes on a simple well schematic
- Recognise the common well barrier elements — SCSSV, tubing, packer, casing, cement, wellhead and tree valves — and what each contains
- Interpret annulus pressure readings, explain why sustained casing pressure matters and describe the MAASP concept qualitatively
- Describe routine integrity testing, including valve leak tests and pressure tests, and how results verify a barrier
- Apply anomaly management discipline: operate within defined limits, record results, and report exceedances promptly
