OSHA's medical services and first aid standard, 29 CFR 1910.151, requires a person trained to give first aid to be available at the workplace when there is no clinic or hospital nearby. This course prepares workers to be that person. It follows the current resuscitation guidelines based on the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) science, such as the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines in force when the course is delivered. Participants practise CPR on manikins, use a training AED, and work through first aid for bleeding, burns, chemical splashes, choking and sudden illness. Scenarios are set in ordinary workplaces, such as a workshop injury or a colleague who collapses in the office. They include how to protect the casualty's dignity and modesty, for example by using a cover and asking a same-gender colleague to help where possible. Our certificate is a certificate of attendance. This course does not by itself award an AHA, American Red Cross or other national first aid card. A recognized card is possible only when the course is delivered through an authorized provider of that program. Please ask when booking if you need one.
