Classroom, online or in-house — how do you choose?

The three formats are not interchangeable. Self-paced online suits knowledge that has to reach a lot of people at their own speed, and it is the cheapest way to cover a syllabus. Classroom suits anything where the discussion is the learning — judgement, negotiation, investigation. In-house suits training that has to use your own procedures, your own plant and your own incidents. The mistake we see most is putting practical judgement into a self-paced course because it was easier to schedule. How do you decide, and who makes the call where you work — the training budget holder or the line manager?
