Skills and training matrices
The skills matrix shows each person's competence against what their role requires. The trainings matrix shows who has completed the online courses you assign.
The skills matrix
People are rows, skills are columns, and each cell shows a status. Filter by department or job title. Each row shows a completion percentage across that person's required skills.
| Cell | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Met / Competent | The person meets or exceeds the required level. |
| In Progress | Work has started. |
| Partial | Some competence, but below the required level. |
| Awaiting | Learning is complete and waiting for assessment. |
| Not Started | Required, but nothing done yet. |
| Expired | Was competent, but the validity period has passed. |
| Failed | Assessed as not competent. |
| - | Not required for this person. |
If the matrix is empty
The matrix is worked out from your set-up, not typed in. It needs all three of these:
- Step 1: A job title that has required skills.
- Step 2: People who hold that job title.
- Step 3: The skills in your organisation's catalogue.
Online trainings
On Online Trainings you can browse the iCompetent online course catalogue, Add courses to your organisation, and Assign them to a department or job title as optional, mandatory or statutory. Adding a course does not enrol anyone or charge anything — learners enrol themselves on icompetent.com.
The trainings matrix
People are rows and your added trainings are columns. Cells show Completed, In Progress, Not Started or "-" when the training is not required. Only mandatory and statutory trainings count in a person's percentage.
Validity and expiry
A skill can have a validity period in months. When a competency record is certified, it is valid until the end of that period. Warnings are sent before it expires, and on expiry the record becomes Expired. A renewal only needs the assessment items again, not the whole skill.
