  • Explain what counts as work at height and why falls remain a leading cause of workplace fatalities.
  • Apply the work-at-height hierarchy: avoid, prevent falls with collective protection, restrain, and use fall arrest only as a last resort.
  • Select, inspect and use harnesses, lanyards and anchor points, including verifying fall clearance and avoiding swing falls.
  • Use ladders, scaffolds and MEWPs within their safe limits, including tag systems, three-point contact and pre-use checks.
  • Explain suspension trauma and confirm a workable rescue plan exists before any fall-arrest work starts.
