Assessments

An assessment is a set of questions inside a skill level. It completes only when you pass, and you can try again as many times as you need.

Question types

TypeHow to answer
Single choicePick one option.
Multiple choiceSelect all that apply. You need exactly the right set — there is no partial credit.
OrderingPut the steps into the correct order with the up and down buttons. The whole order must be right.

Answer every question, then submit. The submit button stays disabled until every question has an answer.

How grading works

Assessments are graded securely by iCompetent, not in your browser. You need an internet connection to submit your answers.

If an assessment has no pass mark of its own, every question must be correct to pass.

Your result

  • You see your score against the pass mark, and which questions were Correct or Incorrect.
  • Where the author wrote one, Show explanation tells you why.
  • Some assessments give a result of Competent or Not yet competent instead of a percentage.
  • Passing completes the item automatically.

Try again

If you do not pass, press Try again. There is no limit on attempts, but you may be asked to wait a short time between attempts on the same assessment.

  • A failed attempt never removes a pass you already have.
  • Passing again moves your completion date forward. For a skill with a validity period, this renews your record.
